The Missouri Equine Council is proud to announce that the 21st annual Equine Celebration was a huge success. The council hosted over 1500 guests with a fun filled, education packed weekend at the Boone County Fairgrounds in Columbia, MO.

The weekend kicked off with Kerry Kuhn. Kerry is a professional clinician from Kansas, he practices ‘Practical Horsemanship’ and has been seen on Best of America by Horseback on RFD-TV. Kerry brought in a huge crowd and worked with riders to help them ride better by understanding their horse.

The MEC was honored to have a number of presenters that represented a wide variety of disciplines from the equine industry. The Show Me Mounted Shooters gave the crowd quite the show with their demonstration of a mounted shooting event. Sharon Clark gave pointers on barrel racing and Rawhide and Dusty entertained with exciting horse, rope and whip tricks. All of the presenters were outstanding and truly appreciated. For a complete list of our presenters, please go to www.mo-equine.org.

Each evening came to a close with the Ultimate Equestrian Challenge brought to you by MFA, Inc. Steven Lantvit, Mike Rogers, and Jeff Woodberry kept the crowd on the edge of their seats as they showed their training skills by taking a horse and training it to be under saddle, followed by an obstacle course for each rider. Jeff Woodberry took the title for 2010. Jeff is a trainer from Eugene, MO that is not only skilled as a trainer but also as a saddle maker. Jeff owns and operates his leather shop at his home and also trains horses for riding and will work with problem horses. He showed off his years of experience as he worked with his mare and made amazing progress in a short amount of time.

The Missouri Equine Council would not have been able to have a successful event without a number of people including the vendors, volunteers and the board. A special thanks goes out to our sponsors, Missouri Hay and Straw, Tractor Supply Company, Horsin’ Around, MFA, Inc., and  UMC-CVM.

The Missouri Equine Council is currently working on the schedule for 2011. The dates are set for January 21-23 at the Boone County Fairground, Columbia, MO. The event will be held for three days, have an additional arena and will be bigger and better than ever!
